It is surprising to hear someone as young as Parisian producer Olivier Andrade churning out a well thought out original like “Day Of Defeat“. However, according to Time Has Changed label manager Acumen, Andrade is the imprint’s crown jewel, mature beyond his years. A seemingly bold statement, but with a release as strong as “DOD”, perhaps this “kid” is no joke.

The original version of the aforementioned “Day Of Defeat” starts with a clever pairing of a blippy click track and live snare hit for a warm, electroacoustic flare. Loping percussion accents provide the incessant hook and the urging of gentle pads add the appropriate deepness to this late night chugger.

The track continues to build up, then peaks midway changing slightly by adding a funky house element via a familiar organ riff. The loop unfurls into a nice musical sequence over the tracks original framework lending to the sense of hypnotic relentlessness that is the cornerstone of quality minimal tech house.
