SOMA 20 YEARS [1991 2011]

Following on from the huge success of his previous EPs, The Unit and Substanz
Underground, Harvey is back with yet another relentless three-track masterpiece.

Continuing a pervasive theme in Harveys output, which inextricably links itself
to the subterranean, 1992 positions itself historically in amongst the
unrelenting rave chaos of that very year. The track masterfully builds around
Harveys signature stomach pummelling kick drum and crisp hi-hats; bolstered by a
deep, drilling bass and hypnotic synth line. The slow rising of screaming sirens
filters its way into the track adding to the already palpable sense of illegal,
after-hours vice.

In March this year Harvey gave Roland M. Dills track Broadband a bit of the
Glasgow treatment and here Mr. M. Dill, one of Colognes finest young techno
freshmen, repays the favour on The Process. His interpretation rigidly maintains
a deep house groove throughout; an entrancing bass-line combined with off-beat
synth stabs slowly build up to a dark, powerful climax a definite late-night
club killer.

The original mix of The Process is the third and final track on the EP, stomping
a path deep into your subconscious with a mechanical beat unnervingly
accompanied by irregular references to Kraftwerk. Building upon a sparse
template of sounds, the track is manipulated perfectly as the rhythm becomes
increasingly intense. It then dissolves, making way for an ethereal vocal track
to swirl around the mix, only for the beat to be resuscitated once again. This
is a powerful and haunting end to an undeniably strong EP.

Harvey has crafted a signature sound for himself, recognisable through its own
innate intensity, and once again proves himself as one of the most exciting
producers around.
