Two years on from the release of his impressive debut, the cyber-funk meets deep house gem “To The Next”, Amsterdam’s Maxi Mill returns to RH Voyage Direct.
With its shuffling deep house rhythms, sci-fi chords, stargazing synths, tumbling melodies and evocative vocal samples, there’s a far-sighted spaciousness and attractive fluidity to “Lost & Found” that makes it particularly appealing. Flipside “Speed Balance Weight” is similarly impressive, but there’s a breathlessness and clear early European techno influence amongst the deep jazz chords, restless percussion and cut-up vocal samples. Impressive stuff, all told, with that distinctive Voyage Direct twist.
