Cosmobox Direct DownloadsThe Analogue Cops’ new Bratha project presents a second 12″, and to be expected the music was “produced using hardware and recorded on ferromagnetic tape.” Although this EP is undeniably lo-fi, all four tracks feel as if the Cops have channelled some of their trademark rawness into a production module designed to limit the amount of excess noise some of they’re music is known for. “Track 1” sees a worn, but trusted formula of bringing an atmospheric and bass heavy loop to life by adding beat down drums and a playful sample – or in this case, synth line – while “Track 2” is a decidedly clubbier version but with darker undertones. “Track 3” sees chimes add a calming quality to a slamming rhythm composition, while “Track 4” sounds like Daniel Wang making techno you can dance to.
