Founded in 2002 by Alex X (also FasterϟDisco, Puppetmastaz, Chlorgeschlecht) and Johannes Malfatti (until 2010), Transformer di Roboter has made a name for themselves with their energetic and riotous live performance. After several releases of Eps, mini-albums or single tracks on prestigious labels such as Diamondtraxx, Lado, L’age d’or, Whitelabel, Basserk, Planet-Mu and Metrohead, play listed by Peaches as well as Justice, Jarvis Cocker or Busy P. and an EP “Baghdad Disco” on Leonizer in 2012, Transformer is back with “Love is not enough”!

Alex who is a (German/Ukrainian-American) native Berliner, also spent a lot of time in NYC when growing up and went through various loud and crazy Bands before studying “Sonic Art” in London and turning to different kinds of electronic music. An electroaccoustic noise project named Chlorgeschlecht (Deco) which has earned “Honorable Mention” at the Prix Ars Electronica in 2004 had been influencial amongst experimental electronic musicians in the late 2000’s. Currently Alex is working with Berlin based Puppetmastaz on a theatre project as well as the upcoming album to be released in 2014 and is also an irregular member of the Puppetmastaz crew since 2011. A collaboration with Electrosexual is in the making and to be released in 2014 under the name FasterϟDisco.

For this release, Alex surrounded himself with talented musicians from very different scenes, to deconstruct and play around with his original composition. Here’s a few words on each of them:

As a music and graphic French duet, Gangpol & Mit jointly develop since 2002 a peculiar universe of digital pop inhabited by colorful and geometrical characters: a bunch of shy salarymen, call-center music lovers, or disturbed parking attendants jumping from mondofuturistic musicals to severe apocalyptic batucadas. Their sonic and visual world find its roots and echoes the humour of duos like Yello or Sparks, hybrid arrangements of the french François de Roubaix, and narrative sides of cartoon and graphic novel classics, occasionally reappropriating moods and tips from many adventurous music styles: digital cumbia, shibuya-kei, synthetic funk or disco dangdut.

The collaboration of the French duo Lois Plugged & Fruckie starts in 2012 with several collab & remixes with Devil’s Gun (UK) Sam Sparro (USA), Vanilla Ice (USA), Queen Of Heart (UK) Electrosexual & Transformer di Roboter. Currently in the studio, they are preparing their first ep, a cocktail of all their influences from house, techno to electro & funk to be released in 2014 on Boxon records.

Clackman Duke aka The Clackers aka The Duke is a DJ & producer from Cambridge/Bristol, UK. Other than being over 6 foot tall, moderately hairy and funny looking, there isn’t really much else you can say about the illusive Duke. His musical style is a colourful mix of Skweee, 8-bit, Hip-Hop, Funk and Bass Music. He likes to experiment with sounds and styles a lot in his musical endeavours using Ableton, Korg PadKontrol, a couple of Electribes and vast sample banks to make the majority of his sounds. Clackman Duke has a busy few months ahead of him with a new E.P on Lab Beat coming soon.
