Stepping up to NNA Tapes once again, Phork brings some of that leftfield alchemy that makes his releases stand out from the crowd, moving between oddball beat constructions and awkward noise. “Wrecked” moves through spacious ethnic tones and strange displaced vocal pulses with a complete disregard for convention, while “User Experience” opts for abrasive buzzing tones and unidentifiable found sounds before “Work” ramps up the bass for a curious half-step electro number. “Contact” has a more accessible tone in the shape of its central chord, but around flit sounds that would make sense in an Art Of Noise record. “Oof” brings more of the tonal studying to the fore, and “Debt” gets into a slow but fulsome electro twist-up.
