When listening to our new release from JPLS it is easy to hear the industrial influence from his youth shining through. The Chicago based producer’s path was always leading to Techno, but his exposure came through a more aggressive electronic sound which is now playing its part on his own music… “My productions are now split between my continual exploration of minimal techno and a more aggressive approach that is directly inspired by the music that pushed me down this road.” JPLS’s label debut comes after impressing Dubfire with both his DJ’ing and production skills. Having throughly road-tested early incarnations of the tracks the SCI+TEC boss was quick to sign them up for the Submerge EP. “Relative to my prior releases this is a bit of a departure for my sound. But, it seems to perfectly span the intersection of shared interests between myself and Dubfire. It’s the merging of my approach to techno and my love of dark, aggressive Industrial music. A shiny, jet black abstraction of the music that initially inspired me.”
