Cosmobox Direct DownloadsFollowing up on last December’s Fair and a remix split with cellist Oliver Coates is a new limited release from Bryce Hackford on PRAH Recordings, Amnesia. Forgoing vocals altogether, Amnesia continues to focus on raw, sampladelic tracks and different explorations of repetition, riffing on dance music and accentuating its psychedelic aspects through the use of instruments that aren’t synchronized, improvisation and reduction. While most of the tracks here pass four minutes, the cheekily-titled Just Four Kicks’ two second runtime (at 120bpm) recalls avant-pranksters The KLF’s Manual idea that no two drum machine players will repeat each other exactly. Many of the other track titles play with dance music tropes & Bryce’s idea of Environmentalism – wholistic consideration of sensual eexperience. On the whole, Amnesia feels deeper – a mini-album made in the pursuit of bridging live and recorded music, Fair and the future
