After Max Loderbauer’s Transparenz album earlier in the year, Margaret Dygas and Tobias join forces for a pair of tracks that continue Non Standard Production’s fine tradition of championing minimal refinement over maximal excess. “Test The West” is a perfect exercise in stripping electro down to a hypnotic drift, the delicate beat plotting a course through the dunes of texture and tone in a way that manages to be both funky and mysterious at the same time. Meanwhile “Thank Yourself” is a more obtuse diversion into hyper-stripped-down abstraction, still locked to a groove but lost in an abyss of empty space and microscopic samples.
