2014 has seen Minéo release on quality labels like Crosstown Rebels, Hot Creations, Hypercolour and Southern Fried Records and more recently he featured in our pages for his superb remix of Karen Pollard’s ‘Reach Out To Me’ on the Hard Times imprint. With no signs of slowing down; the UK producer has now this lovely offering in the pipeline for the start of 2015.
The EP opens with title-track ‘Disappear’. A dusty, stuttering cut that is layered superbly with weighty sub-bass melodies and spoken female vocals that add a distinctive flavour. Sounds great.
Next is ‘Starts With A Kick’. Capturing the tribal sounds of far away lands, this stripped back funky number has a wicked drum production that really creates an instinctive groove. The Bhutanese vocal loops add a charm to this organic track but beware of its dangerous bass-line; it will cause damage on the floors.
Closing the EP is ‘Starts With A Beat’. Minéo concentrates on the simple mechanics of a solid drum groove and powerful sub-bass melody that rides proud throughout the track. The vocal murmurs are still there assisting the groove and at nearly seven minutes long we can safely say the time will slip by once your caught up in this ferocious groove. Quality.
