Rekord 61’s first release of 2015 is the strident ‘Sverh’ on his own Konstruktiv imprint, backed with 3 remixes from Radio Slave.
Previous Rekord61 releases have picked up impressive support with the likes of DVS1, Efdemin, DJ Spider and Anthony Parasole waxing lyrical about the Russian producer’s, real name Alexander Babaev, output.
Here, Babaev drops three hypnotic and strongly melodic techno cuts that flow from the tonally light (‘Sverh’ and ‘Prosvet’) to percussive and introspective (‘Raskat’). Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave delivers three remixes of ‘Sverh’ that manage to walk the fine line between DJ tools and versions in their own right.
Radio Slave’s ‘F.Y.N Remix 1’ draws on the essence of Daniel Bell, combining a sparse drum track with occasional ‘sverh’ vocal while ‘F.Y.N Remix 2’ kills the kicks completely and favours saturated bleeps and ominous atmospherics. ‘F.Y.N Remix 3’ continues the distorted motif but pairs it with pin sharp and powerful drums.
A release that is sure to be deployed in multiple variants due to it’s jigsaw-like aesthetics, Rekord61’s ‘Sverh’ b/w Radio Slave remixes is released Jan 19th on Konstruktiv.
