Having emerged with a distinctly pastoral brand of techno on labels such as M_Rec and Silent Season over the past few years, Edanticonf now makes his way over to Cinematic Recordings to explore further realms of emotionally rich, texturally developed techno not bound exclusively to the dancefloor. “Siren” swirls in a flurry of brightly defined synth lines, from amorphous pads to sweeping strings, with a dash of optimism thrown in to make for a thoroughly sweet confection. “Mermaid” has a more dramatic tone, even if the plush layering of sounds is still in full effect, while “Syrizo” takes on an almost Echocord quality with its strafing chords and immense heft of production.
