We’d been eagerly awaiting the next instalment of the Black Sun imprint and here it finally is, dark and vicious just as we’d expected it to be. The German label has released none other than Blawan, Sunil Sharpe and even the AnD duo in the past so you know it’s going to be a rather filthy affair when these dudes drops a 12″! This time it’s Italy’s Pasquale Ascione who dishes out the techno lashings – the young producer is the co-owner of Repitch Recordings and has released on the likes of Modularz, Krill Music and even Adam Beyer’s Drumcode – in the label’s familiarly moody aesthetic. Four big room workouts filled with plenty of hypnotics and even flurries of that ol’ 303 magic we all love so much. Our picks are “Junkers” for its beautifully sequenced bassline and “Ulm”, a stranger, more abstract vision of techno. Recommended.
