For our first release of 2015, we’re more than happy to welcome Berlin-based Macen- donian producer Herzel to the label. In “Shades EP”, his debut for Hivern, Aleksandar Grozdanovski displays an enchanting sound that falls somewhere in between the glowing indie-electronics of Four Tet and the deep atmospheres of the likes of Jus-Ed. As its title implies, “Daydreamer” is a starry-eyed composition built around a floaty melody, foggy pads and rattling percussion. “Closure” follows a similar path, but with a deeper vibe, blending a ghostly arpeggio with shuffling beats. The title track is also conducted by an arpeggiated, blazing melody, in this case paired with haunted vocals that add a more emotional twist. The EP also includes two “Daydreamer” remixes by British up-and-coming talent Palms Trax: a “Backroom Office Tool” specially aimed for DJs and his “Nothing But A Dreamer Mix”, which looks back into the 90s NY house sound mastered by the likes of The Burrell Brothers. The 12″ comes housed in a special Hivern sleeve, with artwork designed by Arnau Pi.
