The fact that the unheralded Karlist debuted on Russian Torrent Versions with the label’s sixth release earlier on this year and returns here with their twelfth tells you all you need to know about the unrelenting pace they’ve kept in 2014. There’s still no (official) clue as to the identity of Karlist or indeed who is behind the label, though the more internet savvy amongst you will probably be aware of the rumours. This second Karlist 12″ begins in a similar breakneck manner to much the same manner as recent RTV transmissions, though “Amytal Vapours” is blessed with a sense of captivating light thanks to the dextrous keys that reverberate around the deftly layered backbone of drums. “Pulses” winds it down completely, with broken techno patterns submerged deep beneath a thick soup of Stott like sound, before “Branca” (version) leaps straight back into full on techno assault mode.
