Santé’s AVOTRE label is a buy on sight affair for lovers of no frills house music, and now they serve up a couple more bangers. This time they come from the rightly much hyped Citizenn, a UK producer with great credits to his name on labels like Crosstown rebels and 20/20 Vision. Here he impresses once more with his powerful kicks and infectious percussive flair.
‘Resolution’ is up first and is a slow burning house cut with dark drums, shadowy atmospheres and weird vocals all building to an intense groove that really will make those floors march. It is expertly crafted with minimal effort but maximum impact and is a real bomb.
‘This Could Be Us’ is on the flip and is a little less dark and oppressive. The drums here are rubbery and inviting, the slinky percussion is subtle and well designed, and things grow in stature masterfully over the course of 7 minutes. More well treated vocals lurk in the spaces left behind, sweeping synths and fat pads all flesh things out and overall it is another sure-fire winner that closes out a very tidy EP.
