Originally released on French label Lazare Hoche back in 2015, Peace Force now gets a re-release on Finetunes. The work of French techno/house super group Mandar – which numbers Lazare Hoche himself in the line-up – it takes influence from late 90s tech-house and techno, but articulates these sources in a fresh way. The title track is an incessant, percussive affair that resonates to insistent percussion and a warbling bass, but also quirky riffs and the occasional drop and build. On “Each Time”, Mandar opt for a deeper approach, with acid squiggles and atmospheric, jazzy keys soaring into the horizon, accompanied by crisp house drums and percussion.
