In anticipation of the daytime party season just around the corner, Culprit releases the fifth installment in its “Above the City” compilation series. Since its inception in 2011, the series has become an incubator for the up-and-coming talent, many of whom go onto full releases with the Los Angeles-based imprint. The new volume is the biggest collection yet, with 10 artists taking their turn to shine.
The selection is anchored by collaboration between one of Culprit’s more established recent contributors, Pablo Bolivar, and San Francisco’s Emanate duo. Their slice of melodic deep house “Auspices” sets the tone for “Above the City 5” with the rest of the compilation connecting global locations like: New York (Darper), Birmingham (C o n c e p +), Florence (Nicco ND), Sao Paolo, Brazil (Carla Cimino), Mallorca, Spain (Johan Mila), Utrecht, Netherlands (Dulep), Madrid via Berlin (Gavio), St. Petersburg (Mirida) and Krasnodar, Russia (Savastra).
All are united by Culprit’s love for warm evocative – fun, with a tinge of nostalgia – House, perfectly measured for the summer.
