Joseph Kindred aka Jozef K follows the recent Devotion release on Pfeiffer with this stand out slab of Chicago-related house. On the title track, an unnamed narrator explains the origins of the city’s house sound over a fittingly lo-fi drum track that is laced with warbling 303s. “Shanghai Stone Sorcerer” is just as tripped out, with Kindred fusing acid lines with crisp break beats and a hedonistic sample urging listeners to ‘open your mind’. Lauren Flax has been tasked with reworking the title track, and under her influence, it morphs into a wonderfully deep, wigged out techno track.
