David Mayer is a German DJ and producer who co-founded the Keinemusik label. His releases span melodic house, afro house, and tech house across labels including Connected Frontline, Ouïe, and Cacao Records.
KEENE is a DJ and producer duo from Panama formed in 2010 by brothers Kevin and Lloyd Keene. The duo produces Afro House and Melodic House & Techno, releasing on labels including Get Physical Music, Club Bad, and their own Cacao Records which they founded in 2016.
Panamanian duo and label bosses KEENE are back, this time joining forces on a massive collaboration with the talented Berlin based David Mayer and Argentinian queen Barbie Williams on the vocals, demonstrating their sophisticated styles.
“Luna, Rojo y Palmera” (Moon, Red & Palm Tree) makes reference to a magical night with red hues in a warm beach somewhere on the Caribbean. A dreamy night, filled with melancholy from the humming sounds coming from the coast.
It takes its cues from breakbeats providing a complete retro-future feel, building through bobbing arpeggios and a rolling groove that pushes it forward. Big sweeps and minor chords punctuate in the background, while the sweet vocals add another dreamy touch. It’s a quite intense track that hypnotises, clearly an outstanding offering for this year’s calendar.//
