We welcome Pat Lezizmo & Tunnelvision on Piston Recordings with the impressive, Ritual EP. Pat returns here after his debut remix on the label just a few short weeks ago on Miguel Palhares’ Keep On Dancing. The Belgian has been at the forefront of creating versatile house music for a long time. He is a master at fusing different genres and he always gets the results on the floors. Fellow Belgian, Tunnelvision, joins Pat for his debut with us on Piston. The guys have worked together previously, enjoying a successful release on Muzik & Friendz with It Will Be Over Soon. He has also racked up several cuts on many labels over the years and he continues to bring a certain kind of noise with his production skills. We’re delighted to have both guys on the label and we hope to hear more from them soon.
First up, we have the Tech Mix of Ritual which sets us up with a solid backbone of tight beats with shuffling, rhythmic percussions. Warm, deep basses wash over the groove as cool vocals come through. Atmospheric pads and short chord stabs add vibrancy to the track, creating a rich dynamic across multiple layers, perfect fodder for the floors. The Afro Mix of Ritual is up next, adding a staccato approach with smooth dancey notes at the core. Staying true to the previous mix, the pads create that wonderful atmosphere which is enhanced with the cool vocals. More prominent rhythms stand out which will definitely get asses shakin’ on the dancefloor. Second Nature rounds out the release, taking a more direct route to a deeper shade of house music. Exotic percussions wield exciting rhythms as hypnotic chords play out intricate patterns. Warm keys and soft pads create a smooth groove as cool vocals come through.
