Alexander Johansson is a techno DJ and producer who began releasing music in 2019. He produces raw, deep, and peak time techno across labels including Lømsk, H-Productions, Float Records, Truncate, and MindTrip.
Swedish producer Mattias Fridell runs his own mastering studio and has released 63 tracks since 2013. His mechanically-driven techno spans peak time driving rhythms to raw hypnotic structures across labels including Lømsk, Gynoid Audio, and H-Productions.
On its 46th release, MindTrip welcomes two substantial artists from Sweden on a collaborative 4-track EP. Matthias Fridell and Alexander Johansson are standalone producers but their common ideas and vision brought them together on various shared releases in the last couple of years. The two combined push their boundaries while squeezing their 909 sounds and short synth loops with a clear 90’s flavor. Here’s what they say about their ”Datamaskin”:
”The tracks came together based on the limitation to use only a Dreadbox Erebus synth as the main element for playing sequences, and building drums, assisting synths & rhythmic patterns around those sequences.
Since the Erebus is fully analog with no way of saving your patches, the limitations placed on you force you to come up with ideas and create something during that current session and capture it. That’s the core and foundation of the tracks residing on this release.
The only time post-editing was used was for “Debil” where some hi-hats were added afterward.”
