Shubostar is South Korean producer Jiyoung Bak who runs uju Records and has released 13 tracks since 2020. Her indie dance and melodic house productions appear on Permanent Vacation, Internasjonal, Live At Robert Johnson, and DGTL.
Rising talent Shubostar opens up the next chapter with her new EP on Permanent Vacation. For the tracks on the EP the Berlin and Mexico-based South Korean producer travels back to her youth or as she puts it: “Young Shubo loved to be alone at home, watched lots of animation, played computer games, made internet friends.” The influence of animation series like “Cowboy Bebop” or “The Vision of Escaflowne” are clearly recognizable on “Orbit drive-in” with its retro sci-fi feeling and a bass-line that sounds like a engine of a space ship or on “Nekono Uta” with its use of an animation typical voice.For the track “Tempo Y Lugar” Shubostar illuminated another part from her youth, where she was playing keyboards in a rock band that lead to this cosmic rock fusion with live bass and guitar, that features Galera’s unique and melancholic vocals.
