The third instalment in our Re-Freaked series finds Saudi selector Baloo and Berlin-based DJ/producer Carlo reworking the Freaks cult cut Telefunken into a late-night shape-shifter – low-slung, woozy, and laced with the unmistakable vocal textures of Diz Washington. Baloo-a long-time force behind Saudi Arabias MDLBEAST-brings decades of underground heat from playing in Riyadh to New York, Mykonos to Beirut with a spectrum of house, disco to deep to minimal, that ranges from the gritty to the downright filthy. Carlo, meanwhile, steps in with his solid production hand, and deep roots in Berlins scene, balancing restraint and rawness. Known for his time at Berlins Watergate and now a resident at Málagas StudioClub, his releases on Classic Music Company and Shall Not Fade have made him a staple of quality house. Together, they deliver a bold, twisted rework primed for late-night sessions and discerning clubfloors.
