Star Creature grants Giovanni Damico permission to land as the long-time collaborators blast another boogie banger out the box. The team have been busy this winter season with a new 45 landing now and rumors swirling of an upcoming LP. The A Side puts the Fun in a Funky Psychedelic Disco Stomper that transforms you to a back to 1981 to party somewhere between Lagos and Lower East Side of NYC complete with sing-a-long chants and breakbeats, almost feels like a garage dub of an overlooked Kid Creole album cut from the era. The B-Side takes us back to Damicos Native Italy with a fresh take on the classic Italo Disco sound with flavor that will make any Nonna proud. The perfect balance of drum machines paired with a full analog percussion section, a suite of vintage synths layered on top of Damicos own guitar and bass work with Damicos mic control deserving The Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana Per Il Funk. At this point, Southern Italys Giovanni Damico is basically an honorary Windy City Native. I dont think hes ever been to Chicago but he certainly has status on all sides of the City. Damicos collaborations with Chicagos Star Creature kicked have spanned the better part of the last decade with just as many vinyl releases during that time spanning 2 LPs, 2 EPs, a handful of 7s and an appearance on the 2020s Star Creature Vibes label compilation not to mention the over 20+ 12s and a dozen appearances on labels ranging from MCDE, Lumberjacks in Hell to Kalakuta Soul, Bordelllo A Parigi, his own White Rabbit Recordings and more. Outside of the first-generation Warehouse / Music Box / Power Plant attendees, Giovanni just seems to get that classic Chicago house feeling while expanding and innovating way beyond conceivable notions of house – not the casual dance music enjoyer would even know to call this house. That perfect blend of Tracky Italo Early Drum Machine, Bang the Box type of Proto House Electro Soul with adventurous and ambitious beats and melody combos pulled from a range of global influencers, mixing of electronic and acoustic instruments giving some of the most full body unique compositions in dance music, each being accomplished, evolving and truly unique.
