Behind the Melodic House & Techno : Release Notes

Astral Records rounds out the spring season by welcoming Senses Of Mind to the label for their debut single. Hailing from Belgium, Kynan Nonneman and Miles Vanderlooven perform as Senses Of Mind with a rare feeling of mutual connection, with their inventive use of melody and rhythm that challenges the listener with unexpected but intuitive turns and compelling grooves. Its this rich production with fire-starting spontaneity which has seen the duo showcase their music via esteemed imprints in Infinite Depth, Running Clouds, Steyoyoke and Untold Stories. Perhaps most notable however was Death Of A String, the duos well-received debut via Fideles Impressum as part of the labels Symbiosis Two collection in 2023. Also accomplished DJs, Senses Of Mind have taken their impeccable track selection and smooth programming skills to iconic stages, from the pulsating beats of Dour Festival to the rhythmic heartbeat of famed Belgian venue Fuse club. With 2025 being highlighted by a performance atop the Mercury Tower in Malta, Senses Of Mind now enter the summer season on a momentous high, making their Astral Records debut with Pulsating Theory, alongside a remix from Braynod. Beginning with the original mix the long-standing duo masterfully synthesize their creative talents for a proper peak time affair. Wrapped in a modern club-effective blueprint are obsessive rhythms, hyperspace stabs and clustered synth mutations, while thunderous kick drums and momentous grooves keep the gas decisively on. Flexing their craftsmanship further across the break, its a tension filled build which steals the air, before dropping out into a cavernous wasteland of sonic artefacts for a charged finale. The release concludes with Braynod making his label debut with the lone interpretation of Pulsating Theory. Hailing from Malta, Braydon Azzopardi aka Braynod has been a fixture of his countrys electronic underground across the last five years. The Senglea resident first rose to prominence with a pair of early projects for Droid9 South America and Symmetric, where he established a melodic, progressive style that made him a name to watch. Continuing to perfect and evolve his craft going forward, Braynod would re-define his sound, incorporating techno elements while never losing sight of his original melodic approach. It was this cohesive vision which would see the Maltese artist add projects via Lelantus and his own Vestige Records imprint. Perhaps the most noteworthy discography credit would be the April release of QUEMA QUEMA, an ERRORR vehicle co-produced alongside Mila Journée and Tekzee. Now, continuing on this exploitative path, Braynod makes his Astral Records debut in fine style with a rousing interpretation of Pulsating Theory. Taking a peaktime approach, Braynod toughens up the framework with driving kick drums, fluid rhythmic pulses and a pyrotechnic deconstruction of the lead theme. Its looping hypnotism delivers highwire tension throughout, multiplied further by a frenetic break, as ping-pong sonics eventually give way to a finale guaranteed to tip any dance floor over the edge.
