We can hardly believe it, but Connaisseur is turning 20 this year! It all began in early November 2005 with our debut release, Patrick Chardronnets Eve By Day. Not only was it our first track, but it also became our first hit, setting the tone for everything to come. Now, hundreds of tracks later, were proudly entering our anniversary year. Running Connaisseur has been a journey, from managing a booking agency to organizing events and festivals. But our true passion has always been releasing beautiful music — a passion that shaped what we proudly call The Sound of Connaisseur. Though our releases have ventured into different styles over the years, theres always been a unifying thread — a distinctive emotional quality, a warmth paired with the freedom to break away from convention. We were pioneers of the first wave of melodic house, a sound that emerged from the minimalist scene of the mid-2000s before melody made its return. As Groove Magazine once put it, we were the house counterpart to James Holdens legendary Border Community. To celebrate our anniversary, weve gathered musical gifts from some of our beloved artists — tracks that truly resonate with us and embody The Sound of Connaisseur. Introducing The Presents, a series of releases leading up to our official anniversary in November. The series kicks off with our Offenbach friends Shayde, aka Delenz and Richard IV. With previous releases under this moniker,or in various combinations,on labels such as Live At Robert Johnson, Rawax, Moodmusic, Connaisseur, Delenzs own label Turbolenz, and an upcoming releases on Cocoon Recordings, Shayde have prepared a special gift for our anniversary. Two tracks that truly capture the spirit and sound of Connaisseur. Karri Otschi is a timeless, stomping yet subtle techno track that would also work beautifully in a more uptempo house set. Meanwhile, Under Clean Blankets is a stunning, acid-infused electro tune. A genuine Connaisseur release through and through.
