Asalam Malaikum brings together MoBlack, Emmanuel Jal and Zamna Soundsystem in a moving collaboration: part rhythm, part reverence. The Afro mix begins with grounded percussion and fervent lyrical poetry, steadily building into a climactic swell of ancestral grooves and layered instrumentation. Emmanuel Jals voice rises like a flame through the mix, raw and unrelenting, invoking unity and remembrance with every phrase. The indie mix takes a more contemplative path, opening in hushed tones and sparse melodies that gradually unfold into a sweeping, emotive crescendo, less a call to dance, more a call inward. Here, Jals vocals feel almost suspended in time, echoing across space with quiet strength as the arrangement blooms around him. Emmanuel Jal is a South Sudanese producer from Tonj who produces afro house, melodic house & techno, and tech house. He releases on labels including MoBlack Records, Innervisions, Defected, and Higher Ground with 40 releases since 2010.
MoBlack is Italian producer Mimmo Falcone, who runs MoBlack Records and co-founded MoDef with David Morales. His Afro house productions span melodic house and indie dance, with releases on Defected, Cercle Records, and Frau Blau since 2015.
Zamna Soundsystem releases melodic house and Afro house across MoBlack Records and their own ZAMNA Records imprint. Their sound spans organic house downtempo to indie dance, with 12 releases since their 2024 debut on d:vision.
