Behind the Progressive House : Release Notes

An artist who has been pulling up sizeable trees over the past 18 months, Hobin Rude is a welcome addition to the Proton Music roster with his Found Myself EP. Based in the Belgrade capital, the Serbian star has over 300 production credits to his name since a June 202 debut, with the likes of Roger Martinezs HIGHER STATES, Praveen Acharys Juicebox Music and Mangos Mango Alley amongst them. Now debuting on Proton Music, the title track is a superbly conceived affair with low-slung percussive groove, deep kick and cadenced bassline. As it evolves, a pitched down vocal cut eerily declares, Found Myself while a smooth and flowing lead line adds to the sonic tension inherent within. Pausing at the breakdown and dropping away to momentarily silence, the track soon falls back into the familiar refrains of earlier movements. Awake Between Worlds immediately excites with its rapid fire, off-beat hats and thumping kick while atmospheric pads wash over the rhythmic backdrop in textured waves. Haunting and evocative in equal measures, free-flowing chord progressions play out, keenly felt at the beatless but gently pulsing breakdown. Hitting the heights once more in the third movement, familiar rhythms come to the fore as a juxtaposed bass pattern sits underneath the smoothly oscillating pads. A Proton Music regular, Dmitry Molosh has been at the vanguard of modern Progressive House for some 15 years and 700 production credits. Able to shine a powerful light on his inimitable talent through a host of original releases and remixes, the Little Friend, Winds of Change, River Pond and Station EPs have been notable additions to the Proton Music catalogue. Moreover, remixes for such celebrated names as Kastis Torrau, Trilucid and Paul Deep have showcased another side to the Belarusians production talents, as Dmitry now works his magic on Awake Between Worlds. Picking up the pace slightly compared to the original, a sublime sustained bassline creates dynamic dancefloor energy. Cleverly interpreting themes from Hobin Rudes track, Dmitry has shaped the coruscating pads into a series of melodic sequences that sit superbly alongside a rippling arpeggio at the breakdown. Hitting its straps in the second half, courtesy of a stirring snare roll, a growling bassline note delays into the distance as the arp and earlier melodic phrases make their presence felt again with a glorious new additional melody. The result is yet another hugely impressive remix from the Dmitry Molosh production vault. With trademark style and verve, James Monro has been a significant contributor to Proton Music with a veritable feast of Progressive House since a 2013 debut remixing Juan Deminicis. Since then, the Sanctuary series has enjoyed 3 volumes while In the Ether represented a high watermark in August 2017 with a full-length album that exuded quality from start to finish. Remixes for the likes of Clawz SG, Desaturate and Rick Pier ONeil are also among a slew of striking interpretations that have additionally helped shape the James Monro sound. Finding his way back to the label for the first time in 2 years, the James Monro remix is a pounding, rhythmic affair that captures the essence of Awake Between Worlds but transforms it into a sparkling new interpretation by intelligent use of original components and immaculately conceived additional production material from James Brazilian studio. The result is a driving and pulsating remix that turns Hobin Rudes work in hypnotic dancefloor destroyer.
