Replacement Sequence is an antidote to algorithm-driven, cloned-preset techno: raw, grimy, brooding, modular hardware groaning with voltages, every sound touched by human hands on knobs. The first full EP from the duo of Peter Kirn and Florian Meindl, the pairing sees a meeting of two synthesists known for their affection for machines. The result is darkly hypnotic, organic tracks with Detroit-inspired grooves, in undulating arrangements on modular synths.
