Hot on the heels of the much loved 6th Leonidas & Hobbes Together EP (May 25), Leonidas returns with his long awaited second solo EP, Flying Saucers, since debuting in 2012 with Sequential EP (via Kay Suzukis Round In Motion label). Flying Saucers is an exploration into cosmic dancing, delving into some of Leonidas favourite extra-terrestrial, interstellar and sci-fi themes, without ever losing his focus on the dancefloor. The title track is an epic deep house journey, inspired by the below Jacques Vallee quote made famous by Terence McKenna (at a 1987 UFO conference). This is complemented by Oumuamua, another cosmic collaboration with good friend Kay Suzuki, perhaps best described as Drexciya stuck in a lift with Manuel Gottsching (RIP) – the latter having given the pair praise for their seminal track, Interstellar Vibrations (2012). Side B kicks off with the minimal/acid house track, Spectral Portal, a funky 303/606/Juno 60 workout, followed by Nommo, an afrobeat influenced Balearic house number, inspired by tales of alien ancestral spirits from the mythology of the Dogon people of Mali, West Africa. The 12 ends with Submarine 606 (the title is a play on 60s Japanese manga series Submarine 707), an electronic future-jazz number. Ambient Saucers (an ambient mix of the title track) closes the digital package. Selected Feedback: Fab EP!! All tracks for me but the stand out track is Flying Saucers..10 mins of bliss !! Leonidas Love For Black Lives was the winner of a competition on Francois Kevorkians World Of Echoes Facebook group, inspired by jazz legend Bob James powerful message following the death of George Floyd (2021). Leonidas & Hobbes Web Of Intrigue (Long Haul Mix) received radio play by Nemone filling in on the Breakfast Show, as well as Gideon Coe, on BBC Radio 6 (2021). Leonidas & Hobbes Driftin received radio play by Rob Da Bank on BBC Radio 1 (2012). Leonidas has previously produced/co-produced 9 vinyl EPs and 1 album, and is credited on several compilations and remixes (including the Pet Shop Boys).
