Summoning the early rave day spirits once again, veteran British producer and DJ Neville Attree returns to Globuli with the second act of his two part LP, The Ghosts of Askers Motel Completing the narrative after the glistening first act, Neville explores ecstatic acid house, baggy electronic dub and writhing electro – heavily laden with this own vocodered vocals and signature synth melodies, soundbites, samples. A fully balanced and well extracted blend of early 90s basement vibes and bittersweet contemporary pop-house, Act Two wraps up a huge body of work, consolidating 20 years of friendship and collaboration between Attree and Globuli label creator Ed Davenport, who helped compile, mix and master the LP. Blasting off with a purpose, One Day is a crisp moment of piano-house bliss. Heavy sub basslines and breakbeats come alive amongst a bubbling, emotional club burner. Thats followed by the cavernous electro of Save My Soul (Again), carrying a poignant message at its arpeggiating, robotic heart. Classic acid house references and dubbed out piano stabs feature heavily throughout Act Two, elevating the listener to heightened states – both the dusty vinyl apparitions of Xtro AAcid and the chugging, Weatherall indebted daydream of Inner-space come on in a synthetic rush of multicolour waves. Capturing multiple snapshots in time spent on the dance floor, in the DJ booth, the after-hours on the beach and the long journey home, Nevilles skills in sonic storytelling really shine in this accomplished and honest portrait of a true acid house convert, now in his fifth decade and going stronger than ever.
