This split single serves a double purpose;”Kulta” is the first single from the upcoming Snick Snack compilation “Småsnacks 3” – and it is also released in celebration of Kväänikansan päivä, or Kvääni Peoples Day, a yearly celebration of the culture, language and history of the Kvääni people. A finno-ugric speaking national minority in Norway, But this is just as much about the music in and of itself, and boy, is this a killer package! The Kvääni/Norwegian/Sámi art/performance/electronic music duo Gul Sol consist of visual artist and poet Inger Emilie Solheim and dj/producer/sound artist Martin Bjørnersen. After a flurry of live performances and exhibition/performance work since the formation of the duo in 2025, they now make their official recording debut with the haunting electrofunk hymn “Kulta”. We are confident that this is the first ever Kvääni language electrofunk-folk track for international dancefloors. On the split side we find no less than a professor at his craft. This recording of “Rigedom, gods eller penningar” by Tor Einar Bekken was the starting point for the whole release, as Gul Sols recording started out as a spontaneous attempt at a remix (although “Kulta” as presented here only utilizes a split second sample of the original). Tor Einar Bekken is an Associate Professor of Music at ILU-NTNU, Trondheim. More importantly, he is a masterful pianist and constantly gigging musician in genres ranging from boogie woogie to free jazz/improv and beyond. To round out this package is a remarkable remix that borders on “megamix” territories. This is also an official recording debut: Charta ’79 is the brand new, strictly dancefloor oriented project/alias of amazingly versatile and prolific electronic producer/alias of amazingly versatile and prolific electronic producer/musician Peder Niilas Tårnesvik. Under his regular recording name Niilas he has released six albums (with a seventh just around the corner) of music that runs through a wide range of electronic styles.
