To honour the enduring appeal of a great musical rework, Hell Yeah is launching The Art of Remix. This essential new series collects the best remixes from a range of label favourites. First up is Japanese downtempo master Calm with exclusive, never-before-on-vinyl versions of originals by Cantoma, Aura Safari, DJ Sofa’s Dream Baby Dream, Seahawks, Gallo, Yuichiro Kato and more. First, his take on Cantoma’s ‘Way To The Sun’ infuses drones and chimes with bubbly acid. ‘Sur Mon Balconnet’ shimmers with Spanish guitar and sultry sax, ghosts of yesterday still shuffling. ‘Banana Trance’ jolts with breakbeats while taking a Balearic leap into hedonism. Mininni’s ‘Vertigo’ drifts dubwise, from monastic chants to operatic bursts. Aura Safari is an Italian group from Perugia formed in 2019, comprising Nicholas Iammatteo, Traffol, Lorenzo Lavoratori, and Daniele Melloni. The quartet produces organic house, nu disco, and deep house tracks for Hell Yeah Recordings, blending jazz-funk elements with electronic production across eight releases since 2021.
Cantoma is the project of UK producer Phil Mison, who also records under the alias Noche Espanola. His music blends organic house and nu disco across labels including Highwood Recordings, Cafe Del Mar Music, and Music For Dreams.
