Kicking off from the momentum of Native Boundaries’ latest VA, label head Lucid Distraction returns with his first EP since 2022 on Native, ‘Twerk,’ bringing in a fresh palette of seditious techno and dubstep along with a tag team of legends on remix duty.’Twerk’ brings a proper introduction of Lucid Distraction’s wonkier production, a tune electrified by sweeping bass and dirty vocal chops. Chicago staple and ghetto house legend, DJ Slugo, reconceptualizes it into a massive four on the floor remix with a serious intention to get any floor knocking. Slugo is a long-time pioneer of the ghetto house and juke sound influencing the likes of many including Daft Punk. The VIP delivers the more familiar side of Lucid Distraction’s productions with an energetic electro interpretation. Next up, ‘The Sound’, is characterized by its tumultuous and thundering techno sound design. It is converted into an alternate warehouse weapon by Australia’s envelope-pushing artist, Assembler Code.
