Coefficient returns to Unspace with a new full length sci-fi inspired concept album. Beyond The Horizon follows a crew of scientists sent on a routine mission to study a black hole. They are contacted by strange telepathic beings who live inside the black hole’s event horizon. Each track on the album depicts a key chapter of the story, an epic space adventure into the unknown. Starting with the ethereal synths and deep analog bass of the opening track, ‘The Dimensional Boundary’, the album moves between atmospheric early Detroit inspired techno, through deep and minimal bleeps and bass, into intense and energetic dancefloor grooves. ‘KR-5794’ and ‘Analysis Of The Accretion Disk’ incorporate intricate sound design and spatial effects, with 909 drums and minimal percussion, while the futuristic sounds of ‘Negative Energy Density’, and the deep reverberating bass and crisp high frequencies of ‘Cerebral Waves’ create deeper abstract moments. The title track ‘Beyond The Horizon’, and the weird fractured modular tones and synths of ‘The End Of Time’, and the sample led ‘The Lambda Variant’ are some of the highlights of this ambitious sci-fi concept.
