James Falco has been quietly building something in Sanremo – far enough from the circuit to think straight, close enough to the Mediterranean to let it bleed into everything. Pelagos EP is his debut on MM Discos, and four tracks that don’t rush to explain themselves. The opener sets the tone: dubbed-out, low-slung, with a ragga edge that drifts somewhere between post-kwaito and nothing you can easily place. The title track moves on a loose, Madchester-adjacent groove – unhurried, slightly off-kilter in the best way. Acqua Jam goes deeper into dream house territory, the kind of thing Irma Records might have sat on for a decade before releasing. Ooohhh closes it out at golden hour, slow and wide open. Somewhere between Amnesia Ibiza and The Haçienda – not as a gimmick, but as a genuine sensibility. Pure Mediterranean heat for slow dances and afterhours alike.
