Following his acclaimed “Reconnection” debut and the vibrant evolution of “Dreamless Heaven,” Berlin-based producer Jepe returns to Sum Over Histories once again with “Abyss Of Time” – a four-track journey that merges geological philosophy with electronic heritage. Inspired by uniformitarianism – the geological principle that Earth’s transformative processes operate across vast timescales – Jepe crafts an EP about breaking the past and reconnecting with the future. “Tonal” establishes a dark, smoky club foundation with hypnotic rhythms and trance patterns. “Abyss Of Time” channels disco synth and Italo influences through a modern lens, embodying Jepe’s pursuit of an imaginary world beyond temporal constraints. “Brooklyn Section” and “Harlem Section” resurrect ’90s New York and Chicago house traditions, grounding the EP in the artist’s earliest DJ roots.
