The CoOp Presents label returns to bring you a 3-track EP from the prolific Piers Kirwan. DJing since the late 80s and with close to 100 releases to his name, across multiple aliases and projects, Piers has long been a respected figure on the underground dance scene. His productions have spanned everything from liquid d&b to house and bruk, with releases on labels including Dance Regular, Boogie Cafe & Good Vibrations. Moving to his debut release for CP, Piers delivers a very dope eclectic triple threat set. ‘Tetchy’ is somewhat of an epic. A creeping arpeggiated synth gives way to a tough, tough riddim track with the occasional amen-style punch thrown in, smoothed out with rhodes chords and big string stabs. ‘Do Your Thing’ is a deeper one, but no less vibey; with a warm bassline, soulful vocals, skippy percussion and emotive filtered pads grooving throughout. ‘Breakin In’ ends the EP with a slight “bruk goes to Detroit” flavour; a broken rimshot-laden beat rides underneath warped keys and a wicked refrained vocal hook. Another essential heads down release from CP for the more discerning selector. ‘Tetchy’ EP is released on all digital platforms, June 19th 2026.
