Behind the House : Release Notes
Sandrino and Jepe join forces on Step Recordings for the ‘Sweat’ EP. Marking both artists’ debut on the Catz ‘n Dogz sublabel, the release sees one half of German duo Frankey & Sandrino linking with Portugal-born, Berlin-based producer Jepe for a vibrant three-track outing. Across the ‘Sweat’ EP, Sandrino and Jepe channel pure, playful energy. ‘Love Longing’ opens with quirky melodies, subtle acid touches, and a ritualistic vocal, before the title track leans into a tropical House vibe through colourful tones and sun-soaked grooves while being a distinct revisit of Detroit influences that shaped the early DJ careers of both artists. Closing cut ‘Twelve Yellow Birds’ then slows things down with crunchy 8-bit textures and low-slung drum breaks, rounding out a vibrant and offbeat collaboration that balances dancefloor punch with a light-hearted, adventurous spirit.
