Behind the Techno (Peak Time / Driving) : Release Notes

Naja Naja marks Konx-om-Pax’s return to the dancefloor — a shift back toward the tougher, high-energy sound many fans first connected with, after the deep-listening world of Uaxuctum. This EP taps into the raw spirit of 90s techno, but filters it through the detailed, textural approach he’s developed over the years.nThe title track, Naja Naja, is built around a twisting, snake-like synth line that moves and mutates as the track builds. It carries the grit of early Surgeon and the stripped-back punch of classic Roule records, but the result is something more colourful and psychedelic — familiar influences reshaped into something new.nTarantula pushes the intensity even further. Driven by a distorted Prophet arpeggio, it captures that feeling where tension and euphoria blur together on a packed dancefloor. It’s jittery, claustrophobic, and completely exhilarating — the EP’s most full-throttle moment.nTo close, Phantasmal drops the pressure and drifts into a hazy, dub-soaked space. Echoes of Chain Reaction float through the track as rhythms dissolve into reverb and soft synths fade in and out like distant signals. It’s a gentle comedown after the EP’s heavier core.nOverall, Naja Naja feels like a reset — a way of reconnecting with the harder, steel-toned sounds that shaped Konx-om-Pax early on, while still carrying the depth and detail of his more recent work. It’s a look back that pushes forward
