Dance floor master Maltitz follows up records for Skylax, Bordello A Parigi and Watergate Records with ‘Groovy Boy’ – a joyful love letter to ecstasy that includes a collab with Copenhagen legend Prom Night. The title track kicks us off, dripping in sassy swag as it orbits House, Italo and prog. Scintillating synths lay out like a moonlit ocean while chords swell as they shift with a beautifully uplifting energy. A punchy sawtooth bass jabs away while melodic shards punctuate progress as a midnight mood sizzles throughout. ‘Italo 4 Ever’ follows up, bringing Prom Night into the fold who channels 12 years experience of shifting the floors of the Danish capital and beyond. A punchy drum track smacks out a 4/4 while another ripe sawtooth chomps as it rises and falls. Melodies weave and tumble while snares roll and what unfurls is stranger-squeezing gold – an abandon of all caution that explodes with giddy charm. ‘What Is Love’ follows, leaning more toward a prog palette as an organ stands at centre stage, pulsing through the centre of the groove.
