Tsodor makes his debut on Post Hope Audio with the most personal record of his career so far. Four tracks of danceable minimal that keep sliding into sadness, nostalgia and quiet reflection, or, as he calls it himself, “Tanz Impressionismus”. The record opens with “Die Zikaden, Sie Singen”, built on a field recording of the cicadas outside his studio in Ibiza and inspired by the cicada myth Socrates tells in Plato’s Phaedrus, their chorus captured in gently songlike orchestral parts. After the cinematic “Interlude”, the fifteen-minute title track unfolds from a crisp minimal groove (its playful percussion sampled from a pool pump hose) into strings and piano, picturing a late afternoon by the water at Club der Visionaere in Berlin. “Far”, written during a rainstorm, closes the record on its most intimate note. Classically trained since the age of four, an Abbey Road Institute graduate and a producer for a wide roster of artists, Tsodor has released on Cocoon Recordings, Moodmusic and Juna Poly. Quiet, But Not Empty is the second release on Post Hope Audio, following Kollektiv Turmstrasse’s “Post Hope”.
