“The underground is still where the powerful go to be nobody.” – Martín Shiah Drawing on the communal energy of classic house and the deeper pull of techno, C.Vogt and Sofian present their first collaborative EP following two decades of friendship, shared DJ booths and creative exchange. Rooted in late 80s and early 90s New York house, D.Y.F.I.T features three original productions alongside remixes from Just Her and Lauren Ritter. “Do You Feel It Too” rides a low-slung groove under classic house chords and vocals, recalling an era when house music flourished in safe spaces where people could gather, express themselves freely and find strength through the dance floor. Just Her shifts the track towards a more techno-tinged, dynamic and club focused sound. “Girl Got Lashes” moves into deep acid house territory, combining a hypnotic groove with classic chords and a vocal-led breakdown. NYC artist Lauren Ritter draws on her hardware based production approach for a chunkier, more driving reinterpretation that retains the original’s house sensibilities. Closing track “You’re Not Both” sits between house and deep techno, bringing the pair’s genre-blending instincts to the forefront. The release is paired with original artwork from Martín Shiah, inspired by the intersection of art, subculture and commercialisation. Its nocturnal, handmade collage aesthetic connects with the clubs, warehouses, graffiti and street art of New York, while exploring how underground movements create freedom through anonymity before being repackaged by the mainstream. And so continues the story of a label built on an unquenchable thirst for the underground and a yearning for the sounds of the future, the past and everything that emerges in between. Unceasing.
