For no. 51, Kater Blau resident Franca links up with Iorie, friend of the label and first-hour contributor on 001. Franca built her name on groove-driven sets that read a room and stay ahead of it; Iorie has been singing, playing, and producing since his teens, folding travel and words into tracks that span genres and tempos. nn’Hypnotherapy’ is where those two instincts meet-a hypnotic, groove-forward two-tracker that oscillates between driving tool and intricate song, with reinterpretations by Mathias Kaden and Dilby. Coaxing otherworldly sounds and textures into an accessible and relentlessly groovy framework is the name of the game on the title track. Franca and Iorie reassemble a mangled flurry of bit-crushed, chopped-up synth-work into infectious basslines, metallically cycling themes, and rolling percussion. On ‘Hypnotherapy,’ every seam of the track’s sound design stays audible, weaving an eclectic sonic tapestry that stays powerfully kinetic throughout-staccato, groovy, and otherworldly.nnMathias Kaden’s Hypnoise Remix takes ‘Hypnotherapy’ apart at the rhythm. Fracturing the original’s percussion with bright and breaky drum structures and booming, playful low end, Kaden channels the same hypnotism down a different avenue-a hovering cloud of intermingling pads, synth figures, and spaced-out vocals set to a warehouse-ready break with an irresistible bounce.nnWhere Kaden opens up the original, Dilby’s rendition of ‘Hypnotherapy’ compresses and electrifies it. Rolling drums, a techy substructure and dubby, spaced-out chords balance drum-centric pressure with depth, while warm stabs and fluttering synth figures transform the original’s palette into fields of pulsing melodic energy that trace the perimeter of its shuddering groove.
