Behind the Techno (Peak Time / Driving) : Release Notes

Following the first installment on his new label Gay Groove, Jacob Meehan turns the record over to three artists he admires, each occupying their own corner of Berlin’s underground. Mala Junta sweetie Yazzus sends ‘Conjure’ into an amped-up, volatile state filled with attitude. Dauwd, from African Acid Is The Future, pulls ‘Damier’ somewhere cavernous and ethereal, dissolving the original track’s edges into a mineral haze. OXI & Tracey resident Michael Lane brings ‘Damier’ into the morning light, somewhere between last track and first swim for those who made it to the closing at the beach. GG02 is a small but spectacular cross-section of the sounds currently coming out of Berlin’s underground, showing just how varied & tasty it is.
