Swedish DJ and producer Julia Sandstorm joins Watergate Records with ‘U Got’, following a strong run of releases including her recent outing on Diynamic.nnThe original is a straight-up house track with an old-school rave feel, built around sharp stabs, a driving groove and a vocal hook that stays front and centre. There is a clear nod to classic club records in there, but the production keeps it firmly in the present.nnMeca delivers two different versions. The ‘Deep Remix’ pulls things further into house territory, giving the groove more space and taking some of the urgency out of the original. nnHis ‘Trippy Remix’ goes the other way, picking up on its more psychedelic details and stretching them into a looser, more off-centre take.nnTogether, the three versions give ‘U Got’ a wide club range, from the direct rave energy of Sandstorm’s original to Meca’s deeper and more tripped-out interpretations.
