ACID IS NOT A GENRE, IT’S A LIFESTYLE LA’s 303 whisperer delivers five tracks of sweaty, squelching, old-school rave devotion, plus a remix from UK acid lifer Jerome Hill (Don’t / Super Rhythm Trax). There are producers who dabble in acid, and then there is KMRT, who is quietly, almost inarguably, one of the best American acid house producers. He’s been building a body of evidence since 2015, mostly on his own terms, straight to Bandcamp, no middleman. Still, the wider acid world has caught on. He landed an official remix of ‘Power Concedes Nothing (Without Demand!)’, the 2024 comeback single from Phuture, the actual, literal inventors of acid house, released via DJ Pierre’s Afro Acid imprint. And most recently his track ‘Beez Waxx’ opened Metro Jaxx Vol. 4 on Metro Jaxx, the Balkan Vinyl offshoot connected to I Love Acid, the label and party run by Josh Doherty and Luke Vibert.
