Latex Dance on DESSERT
Behind the House : Release Notes
DESSERT welcomes back Mexican artist Nando for DES053, “Latex Dance,” a strong three-track EP featuring remixes from DJ Split and Ceri. Following his DESSERT debut “Sexual Reality” on DES045, which caught the attention of Gabrielle Kwarteng and was played during her set at Dekmantel’s Lentekabinet Festival. The original “Latex Dance” is unmistakably Nando. Sirens cut through groovy percussion and a rolling bassline, creating a restless club atmosphere with flashes of late ’90s New York and the energy of the legendary Twilo era. DJ Split takes “Latex Dance” straight back to basics with a remix rooted in old-school New York house. Warm, direct and deeply groove-driven, his version strips the track into a classic house framework while retaining the tension of the original. Ceri approaches the track from another direction entirely. Her remix is rawer, deeper and dubby, channeling the spirit of old-school UK tech house and the unmistakable energy of London’s Wiggle era.
