Behind the Deep House : Release Notes
Mirror Ball Recordings proudly presents Like Minds Vol. 1, an exciting new five-track EP from Chicago house heavyweight Emmaculate, bringing together an exceptional cast of like-minded artists for a celebration of collaboration, creativity and a shared passion for house music.nnA four-time Grammy-nominated producer, DJ and mix engineer, Emmaculate has established himself as one of the leading figures in today’s house music scene. With an impressive catalogue of productions and remixes spanning labels including Nervous, Yoruba, Soulfuric, Reel People and Mirror Ball, his unmistakable musical touch and commitment to quality have earned him widespread respect across the global dance music community.nnThe concept behind Like Minds is simple yet powerful. Having spent years building relationships with artists whose work he greatly admires, Emmaculate has created a project centred around genuine creative partnerships. Each collaboration brings together different musical personalities, influences and production styles, united by a common love for house music. For this first volume, he joins forces with Shannon Chambers, Coflo, Terry Hunter and DJ Spen, alongside the incredible vocal talents of STOUT.nnOpening proceedings, Emmaculate teams up with fellow Chicago producer and musician Shannon Chambers, alongside powerhouse vocalist STOUT, on “Lose Control.” A joyous, funk-fuelled house workout overflowing with infectious grooves, disco-inspired musicality and irresistible vocal energy, the track delivers a feel-good celebration of freedom, movement and letting go on the dancefloor.nnNext, Emmaculate connects with Coflo, the highly respected San Francisco Bay Area producer, DJ and dancer whose distinctive approach to house music draws heavily on his background in movement, percussion and Afro-Brazilian influences. Together they deliver “Dream State,” a hypnotic journey into the deeper reaches of underground house, built around intricate percussion, rolling rhythms and atmospheric textures. The result showcases their shared appreciation for groove, space and musical exploration.nnChicago house legend Terry Hunter, a Grammy-nominated producer, internationally renowned DJ and founder of T’s Box Records, joins Emmaculate on “Go Deep.” A stripped-back, late-night groove echoing the raw spirit of ’90s Detroit and Chicago underground house, the track oozes attitude and effortless strut. Rich live musicianship comes courtesy of Shebazz Curtis on Rhodes, LA Williams on guitar and Jai Bass on bass, alongside background vocals from Chantay Savage. The EP features both the original XXX Mix and a brand-new Nasty Club Mix, which takes the track’s sensual energy into darker, more hypnotic dancefloor territory.nnCompleting the line-up is DJ Spen, the legendary Baltimore-based producer, DJ and Quantize Recordings founder whose influential career stretches back to the Basement Boys and gospel-house pioneers Jasper Street Co. Joining forces with Emmaculate on “Turn It Over,” the pair deliver an uplifting, energetic house workout built around an infectious groove and a cleverly worked gospel sample. It’s a perfect meeting of two accomplished producers whose shared musical roots and understanding of the dancefloor shine through every beat.nnFrom funk-driven, feel-good house to hypnotic underground grooves, gospel-infused energy and raw, late-night soul, Like Minds Vol. 1 is a testament to the magic that happens when musical minds connect. Each collaborator brings their own distinct character and creative identity, yet the entire project is held together by Emmaculate’s unmistakable musical vision.nnMore than simply a collection of tracks, Like Minds Vol. 1 is a celebration of mutual respect, shared inspiration and the creative chemistry that continues to push house music forward.
